I'm even from 1968 - 1978 in Berlin went to school. As for the snow, I think that Mainz and Berlin is not much to take in Berlin is rather more snow. Also, there was certainly no snow removal equipment of whatever kind, apart from brooms and snow slides.
micht I can not recall that we once because of snow (and we are not talking about rural areas, but from cities) had lost classes.
However, we had a caretaker who lived in the school building. Mr. Buder introduced a strict regime and when the snow really an accident would have meant, okay, then it would in a DDR-School fared well in an upper class instructed to sacrifice a lesson for the evacuation. Although I suppose in retrospect that would have Buder our Lord alone managed.
an hour for a class - not an entirely pointless unusual day of classes for an entire school.
